As first time moms, we often struggle with navigating our new role. Whether we’re Googling for answers at 3 am, joining FB groups, or are taking advice from friends, we must realize there’s no substitute for our intuitive superpower – “mom sense.” Entrepreneur, wife, and mom of three (twins + 1) Kanika Chadda Gupta, invites guests to share their mom sense experiences and dig deep on topics like what to expect when you’re done expecting, dealing with mom guilt, teaching your child to meditate, rekindling your marriage, and mastering your 5-minute makeup routine. Grab your latte (that’s probably ice cold by now) and laugh while you learn with “That’s Total Mom Sense.
Wendy Gossett is a Parenting Specialist. She helps parents understand their children by using temperament psychology and neuroscience. She has over twenty years of experience in education, working in the classroom and corporate sector.
However, all her educational experience didn’t help when parenting her daughter. Because they were opposites, she struggled as a helicopter parent, an explosive parent and an embarrassing parent. (Google “dancing mom in traffic to see for yourself.”) Because she has struggled, she wants to help other parents struggle…a little bit less!
She is a speaker, author and contributing writer for multiple parenting publications.

About Kanika Chadda Gupta
For years I prided myself on having mastered the art of work-life balance, dedicating time to my career, husband, friends, dance, working out, and cooking (I could whip up a mean chicken curry and rajma chawal). Until I became a mom of twins and had a newborn a year later, that is. My priorities changed and my world went through a paradigm shift. I couldn’t take on everything I wanted to do and there were trade-offs.
With three little ones so close in age, daily hurdles are as unpredictable as the weather and 24 hours in a day never seem to be enough. Days blur into nights and I hated feeling isolated and like I was no longer in control. We’ve all been there, right?
Which brings me to why I launched my blog and podcast, “That’s Total Mom Sense.” As a journalist and entrepreneur, I love talking things out, white-boarding, asking questions, and relating to people. This space allows me to chronicle my life and share the lessons I am learning along the way. Ever since I was a little girl, I wanted to become a mother, so rather than complaining about the sleep deprivation or feeling bogged down by the challenges that come with every milestone, I am turning my attention to all the positive aspects of motherhood that have changed me for the better. For instance, I can squeeze every ounce of productive time in an hour (e.g. pumping in between client meetings or running to the gym after I drop my twins to preschool). I am always crossing things off my to-do lists, have realized there’s no shame in asking for help, and have found that prioritizing is key.
To backtrack a bit, I was born in Bombay, India and have lived in DC, Boston, Miami, New York and now, dare I say it, I’m a Jersey girl. I have a passion for storytelling in every sense. After earning my masters in broadcast journalism, I worked as a TV anchor for CNN India where I covered the gamut of events from the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks to Slumdog Millionaire at the Oscars and have interviewed celebrities including Sushmita Sen, Ranbir Kapoor, and Priyanka Chopra.
A few years later, I moved to New York where I reconnected with an acquaintance who soon became my husband (read about our love story here). We enjoyed our newlywed years living near Times Square where we would stumble upon the best Turkish food in the city in Hell’s Kitchen or watch a Broadway show on a Tuesday night (“Rocky: The Musical” was my favorite). During this time, I launched my company, Kronologie Agency, a digital marketing firm which helps small businesses tell their brand story. While I had sleepless nights managing web development projects and overseeing video edits, I always made time for dance. I joined the Sa Dance Company (led by ClassPass Founder Payal Kadakia Pujji) and have had the privilege of performing at Alvin Ailey and the Museum of Art and Design.
Fast-forward to my life now, which is devoted to my family above all else. There’s certainly a demarcation — before children and after children (BC and AC, if you will), and what I’ve discovered is that though it’s a juggling act, balance is attainable. I am embracing my role as a mom of three/wife/entrepreneur while not losing sight of my own purpose, identity and newfound interests in parenting, organization, lifestyle, pregnancy, and wellness. I hope you find my hacks and advice useful, and if nothing else, know that you have me in your corner cheering you on. Some days are easy-peasy and some are demanding, but you are not in this alone. We’ve got this.
